The latest fundraiser for Positive Steps saw the team and our supporters baking, donating and selling cakes at the Dorset County Show on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th September, which has raised a staggering £561.35p for our health care fund!!!
The event was organised by Pat Oakley and Gen Hakimzadeh who acquired the pitch at the show free of charge, on the understanding that we helped set up some of the other show marquees. Pat, Kevin and Rupert Oakley, also Gen and her children Firouz and Percy, along with Geoff Cherry, Nick and Freddie Marsden, duly completed this task earlier in the week.
Then the big day arrived and the cake sale commenced in the shopping marquee overseen by Pat, Gen and Margaret Cox (photo top left), who worked tirelessly (in a very warm marquee!) over the two show days to make sure that we could capitalise on this opportunity and also all the hard work of our ‘baking team’ behind the scenes; without whom there just wouldn’t have been any cakes to sell! We saw some amazing cup cakes and other cakes of all flavours, colours, shapes and sizes, some of which are shown below … but a special mention must go to Phillipa Smith who made a wonderful cake displaying the Positive Steps logo (photo – bottom centre). This cake was raffled separately and raised £41, which was fantastic!
