Positive Steps has been involved with Ellen Weluzani for some time, but her care is very much a partnership effort. Ellen required bilateral foot amputation following a reaction to Malaria treatment.  Her initial care and treatment was managed by Jennifer Wall (burns surgeon/founder director of the charity Africa Burn Relief) and funded by Africa Burn Relief.  The Lilongwe based charity 500 Miles still has regular contact with Ellen, ensuring she has correctly fitting prosthetic feet as she grows and Positive Steps continues to support her, ensuring that she gets to the prosthetic centre in Lilongwe; providing funding for her transport costs and new shoes.
